Trump Accused Of Punishing MAGA Ally Over Epstein Vote

The president reportedly retaliated against Lauren Boebert.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has been known throughout her political career as a devout MAGA loyalist. However, there’s apparently now some dissension between her and the president over Jeffrey Epstein.

According to The Daily Beast, the president was so upset with Boebert over the Congresswoman’s push to release the Epstein files that he “vetoed a bill that would’ve brought water to her state.” The source of the claim is Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), another Republican in Congress who led the effort to release the Epstein documents, who made the claim during an appearance on Tucker Carlson’s show.

“Lauren Boebert, they took her over to the Situation Room,” Massie said on Carlson’s show. “Like, this is where if they are trying to kill or capture Osama bin Laden, this is where they are at the White House… They took her into the Situation Room and tried to whip her into taking her name off of the discharge petition.”
When Carlson asked whether this was over the Epstein vote, Massie answered, “Yep.”

“Over Epstein, yep, and then the president vetoed a bill that would’ve brought water to a large portion of Colorado. Over Epstein. And this isn’t even, at this point, it’s not just about Lauren Boebert,” Massie said.
In the statement announcing the veto last December, Trump stated that “Enough is enough.  My Administration is committed to preventing American taxpayers from funding expensive and unreliable policies.  Ending the massive cost of taxpayer handouts and restoring fiscal sanity is vital to economic growth and the fiscal health of the Nation.”
However, Massie’s hypothesis may not be true. In January, Democracy Docket reported that Trump indeed vetoed that Colorado water bill for petty reasons, but not to punish Boebert- but rather because of Colorado Gov. Jared Polis’ refusal to pardon convicted election conspirator Tina Peters.
“Trump’s veto is just the latest move in a series of crucial funding cuts — along with a federal investigation into the state’s prison system — for Colorado that state leaders say is political payback over the incarceration of Tina Peters, the former GOP county clerk who’s currently serving a nine-year prison sentence for her role in a voting system data breach. Last month Trump issued a legally unenforceable ‘pardon’ to Peters, since she was convicted on state, not federal charges,” that report said.
