Controversial Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene earned her fifth strike on Twitter over circulating misinformation on COVID-19, so the platform banned her personal account. Greene still has access to her Congressional account, though. Greene’s tweet that earned her a ban was one claiming that there had been an “extremely high amount of Covid vaccine deaths.” And that’s just not true. Then Facebook barred Greene from posting or commenting on the social media platform for 24 hours after sharing misinformation about the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Former President Donald Trump, who has been deplatformed himself for inciting the deadly January 6 Capitol riot, lashed out over Greene’s ban. Trump called Twitter “a disgrace to democracy” and said the company “shouldn’t be allowed to do business in this Country.”
“Everybody should drop off of Twitter and Facebook,” Trump insisted. “They’re boring, have only a Radical Left point of view, and are hated by everyone. They are a disgrace to our Nation. Keep fighting, Marjorie!”

Twitter users pounced.
Oh for Christ sakes, it was only her personal account. Twitter and Facebook our private platforms and they can do whatever they want. They did not shut down our official government page. But give it a few days, because the way she’s going that one will get shut down also.
