It’s all about Trump

Former President Donald Trump’s recent visit to Asheville, North Carolina, was nothing short of puzzling. Asheville was hit hard by Hurricane Helene, and people were expecting Trump to focus on the devastation and those affected. Instead, Trump managed to grab attention for something completely unrelated—a French fry certification pin!

During his visit, Trump was awarded a “French fry certification pin” by McDonald’s franchise owner Edwards. Edwards proudly said, “I also own McDonald’s restaurants, and I know that you perfected your skills behind the counter a day or so ago, and it was my honor to present President Trump with the French fry certification pin.”

But instead of bringing people together, this odd moment left many shaking their heads. Social media was quick to react. Twitter users were not impressed, and many voiced their disappointment.

One user, MaTT FLaMMaBLe, tweeted, “There are folks who work for minimum wage at McDonald’s locations around the country that can’t get a pat on the back for a job well done, but this guy’s out here giving a conservative pin to a felon who couldn’t get hired to work there. We live in the worst times.”

This comment hits hard, showing how workers struggling daily don’t even get recognized, while Trump, with all his legal issues, receives praise for something as trivial as a French fry pin. Dylan, another Twitter user, added some humor to the situation. He tweeted, “This is pure comedy at this point. Good thing he now has a backup plan after he loses the election.”

The absurdity of the moment turned into a joke, suggesting Trump might need a job at McDonald’s if things don’t go well for him in the election.

Meanwhile, Yasmine Mary, a nurse, didn’t hold back in her criticism of Trump’s need for attention. She tweeted, “This man just wants constant praise and attention. What an empty soul he is.”

Her tweet reflects the views of many people who feel that Trump is more concerned about getting applause than actually helping people.

To make things worse, Trump’s visit to Asheville wasn’t just about the French fry pin. He had already faced criticism before his trip. The editorial board of the Charlotte Observer, a major newspaper in North Carolina, criticized him for spreading false information about the hurricane and the federal government’s response. They wrote,

“This is not a situation to capitalize on for political gain. But former President Donald Trump has politicized the situation at every turn, spreading falsehoods and conspiracies that fracture the community instead of bringing it together.”

Instead of helping or comforting people who lost their homes, Trump made the visit all about himself. What should have been a time to focus on recovery turned into a strange show about Trump and a French fry pin. Even during a crisis, he only seems to care about getting attention and praise, which left many people frustrated and wondering why he even came.
