One of the privileges of Donald Trump’s position as president of the United States is his unique ability to bestow the Presidential Medal of Freedom on individuals he deems worthy of such recognition. The only problem with that is, Donald’s standards aren’t all that high. In fact, they’re so low you could trip over them.
The Presidential Medal of Freedom is described as an award “for especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, or world peace, or cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.” It’s the highest accolade achievable by civilians.
Typically, it’s given to individuals that meet those requirements, as chosen by the president or recommended by the Distinguished Civilian Service Awards Board. However, when it comes to number 45, he just seems to hand them out to whomever he’s pegged as a “friend.”
So it really comes as no surprise that Trump is now evidently planning to bestow the award on his long-time, right-wing conspiracy nut homie, Rush Limbaugh.

On the heels of the political radio host’s announcement that he is suffering from advanced-stage lung cancer, Trump revealed to CNN network anchors during a private lunch today that he would be giving his long-time pal the prestigious civilian honor.
In an announcement during a live broadcast yesterday, the conservative radio host stated, “I wish I didn’t have to tell you this, and I thought about not trying to tell anybody, I thought about trying to do this without anybody knowing because I don’t like making things about me. There are going to be days that I’m not going to be able to be here, because I will be undergoing treatment, or I’m reacting to treatment.”
The cigar-smoking long-time Trump ally has been the host of The Rush Limbaugh Show for 31 years now and has served as one of POTUS’ staunchest allies over the last few.
It’s been a well-known fact over the course of Trump’s presidency that he likes to hand out the Medal of Freedom to his closest friends — which I suppose makes sense at this point. Because lung cancer or not, God knows Rush fucking Limbaugh damn well doesn’t deserve it for anything else.
