Trump Is Expected To Visit His Golf Club In NJ This Weekend, But White House Says He Won’t Be Following The State’s Quarantine Order Because He’s “Not A Civilian”

Donald Trump has made the raging coronavirus pandemic even more depressing by not taking experts’ advice, and not following guidelines — all while politicizing COVID-19. Trump packed people into a church so that he could give a campaign event while never wearing a protective face mask. Well, he took his plague enthusiasm even further on Wednesday by refusing to obey New Jersey’s new order that requires visitors who have been in states with high numbers of coronavirus cases to quarantine for 14 days.

And Trump’s reasoning flies in the face of reality.

“The president of the United States is not a civilian,” said White House spokesman Judd Deere, when asked about Trump’s compliance with the quarantine order given his travel Tuesday to Arizona, which has seen a spike of Coronavirus cases, according to CNBC.

“Anyone who is in close proximity to him, including staff, guests, and press are tested for COVID-19 and confirmed to be negative,” Deere continued to say in a statement.

“With regard to Arizona, the White House followed its COVID mitigation plan to ensure the President did not come into contact with anyone who was symptomatic or had not been tested,” he said.

“Anyone traveling in support of the president this weekend will be closely monitored for symptoms and tested for COVID and therefore pose little to no risk to the local populations,” the spokesman added.

Though Trump is the commander-in-chief of the U.S. military, he has never been a member of the military, and George Washington set the precedent that a president is a civilian. Unless Trump is now calling one of our country’s founding fathers “fake news,” then his spokesperson just lied.

And Trump is snubbing New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s order so that the president can travel this weekend to his golf club in Bedminster, N.J. All of this so that President Fancy Pants can play golf while the rest of us are still sheltering at home in hopes of flattening the coronavirus curve. Anyone with a sane mind is adhering to the guidelines so that we can end this nightmare.

Two staffers who attended Trump’s rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Saturday tested positive for COVID-19, the president’s campaign said Monday. So, that, too, challenges the excuse given by the White House. The president has been acting as if the pandemic has ended so he can hold campaign rallies. People are still dying, though, and cases are spiking all over the country.
