Trump Makes First Remarks Since The Debate, Backtracks And Says He Doesn’t Know Who The Proud Boys Are

We knew this was coming.

During last night’s debates, we all watched in collective horror as Donald Trump stood on the stage and refused to denounce white supremacy. As part of his efforts to dodge the question entirely, Trump pushed both the moderator and his opponent to “give him a name” of a specific group they wanted him to denounce and tell to stand down, being as these groups have all been notoriously devout supporters of Trump and the MAGA narrative. Biden responded by tossing out the Proud Boys — a “far-right neo-fascist male-only organization that promotes and engages in political violence.”

Trump’s response to this was, “Proud Boys, stand back and stand by. But I’ll tell you what. I’ll tell you what. Somebody’s got to do something about Antifa and the left because this is not a right-wing problem.”

To say the very least, the majority of the nation was absolutely disgusted and appalled — just short of the Proud Boys themselves, of course, who were very excited.

But nevertheless, I suppose Trump felt that he had to respond to the backlash at some point or another. So, he did the thing he always does — back peddle and play dumb.

Trump touched on the topic this afternoon during his first public remarks since last night’s debate and wasted no time in claiming that he has absolutely no idea who the Proud Boys are.

“I don’t know who the Proud Boys are,” Trump declared, “I mean, you’ll have to give me a definition because I really don’t know who they are. I can only say they have to stand down, let law enforcement do their work. Law enforcement will do the work more and more as people see how bad this radical, liberal, Democrat is, and how weak.”

Trump spent the rest of his public statement defending and hyping up the police force and bashing Antifa and his opponent Joe Biden.

So, a few things we need to unpack her, Mr. Trump:

  1. Yes, you do know who they are.
  2. If you legitimately don’t, then as president you’re admitting that you don’t know one of the largest, most violent, deadly groups in the nation. Not a good look.
  3. If you legitimately don’t, then why on earth would you stand on a stage in front of God and everybody and denounce a group that you don’t even know?

Better luck next time, idiot.
