Former President Donald Trump seems to have a fixation on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), and he’s displayed that on more than one occasion. While most of us were tucked in bed, the twice-impeached one-term president unleashed another statement through his spokesperson Liz Harrington to circumvent his ban on Twitter.
This time, it didn’t contain lies about the election he lost over ten months ago to President Joe Biden in the popular and electoral vote. Trump took a quick break from regurgitating his falsehoods to weigh in on progressives amid the infrastructure bill disagreements. And it appears as though Trump would like to see AOC challenge Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) for his seat.
“The Progressives gain far more power with the legislation being currently talked about by failing than if it passes,” Trump said in his statement. “It makes them a true powerhouse. Next up, AOC running against Chuck Schumer for his US Senate Seat!”

Trump used to do something similar with Bernie Sanders, taking to Twitter to seemingly prop up the Vermont Independent to win the Democratic nomination. It was weird, but then when reading Michael Bender’s book, “Frankly, We Did Win This Election,” I realized why. While talking strategy, those in Trump’s orbit thought that he could easily beat Sanders. Whether that’s true or not, is up for speculation. But narcissists are incredibly manipulative. Though, there’s nothing in it for Trump if AOC challenges Schumer that we are aware of, so it’s anyone’s guess as to why he’s playing this game.
Trump’s statement came as Democrats scrambled to pass a bipartisan $1.2 trillion infrastructure package, and the former president likes to create chaos. So, that could be it. And Trump failed to deliver an infrastructure deal during his one term, but Biden might be able to accomplish that. Meanwhile, Trump should be more worried about Gov. Ron DeSantis.
