Watch CNN Anchor Repeatedly Cut Off Republican Pundit For Lying About Impeachment: “Time Out!”

Well done!

Donald Trump has a penchant for lying and his supporters follow his lead to defend their “president.” What we need are more anchors calling out their blatant lies as Trump sycophants try to gaslight the public.

Republicans got what they wanted with a transparent impeachment inquiry, then voted against it, so CNN New Day host Alisyn Camerota wasn’t taking any of conservative Matt Schlapp’s shit over that on Friday morning.

Schlapp somehow claimed there was no reason to impeach Trump because he had committed no crimes, then compared this “president’s” inquiry to Clinton’s, which he said had bipartisan support.

Of course, Sane America remembers that Trump inadvertently confessed on the White House lawn to doing a quid pro quo deal with Ukraine’s leader, and later, chief of staff Mick Mulvaney backed that up in a bizarre interview. But, conservatives are sticking by their “no crimes” rhetoric.

Camerota explained to Schlapp that impeachment is not simply limited to actual crimes.

Schlapp said just before speaking over the host: “Nancy Pelosi has said all along that she wouldn’t move on starting an impeachment process unless it would be overwhelmingly bipartisan and let’s face it, that’s not where it is in the House of Representatives…”

The CNN host interrupted Schlapp to say, “Fact check: she didn’t say overwhelmingly partisan. ”

Schlapp then even went as far as to throw in Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham’s name into the mix over his comments about Trump’s wrongdoing.

“When I say we had a good day,” Schlapp said of the impeachment inquiry vote, “It’s not because it is good that the Democrats and only Democrats want to impeach the president. I actually think what is good about it, if there are no crimes and if they don’t come forward with articles that show any criminality.”

“It doesn’t have to be a crime,” Camerota interjected.

“You got to talk for two straight minutes, Alysin, let me talk,” Schlapp said.

“Don’t misuse information,” Camerota shot back.

“I’m not lying, name one lie,” Schlapp insisted. “If you think there is a crime, you give me the code right now. Give me the code. What’s the crime? Don’t say I’m lying.”

“It doesn’t have to be a crime, you know that,” Camerota explained. “Why don’t you hear the video of Lindsey Graham saying over and over again.”

“Lindsey Graham is wrong,” the conservative said while speaking over her. “He isn’t one of the Founding Fathers and he is a great guy and all but he didn’t write the Constitution.”

Watch:

Lindsey Graham, back in the day when Clinton was facing impeachment, said, “You don’t even have to be convicted of a crime to lose your job in this constitutional republic if this body determines that your conduct as a public official is clearly out of bounds in your role.”

Here’s another gem from Liddle’ Lindsey: “The day Richard Nixon failed to answer that subpoena is the day that he was subject to impeachment because he took the power from Congress over the impeachment process away from Congress and he became the judge and jury.”

Conservatives are now eating their own after each other’s past remarks. And as Justin Amash warned, in part, after the impeachment inquiry vote in which Republicans failed to call out their corrupt “president”: “History will not look kindly on disingenuous, frivolous, and false defenses of this man.”
