It doesn't get much better than this.

After a long, hard four year and a long and tedious five days, the wait is finally over. The votes have been counted, the voice of the American people has been heard — Joseph R. Biden is President-elect of the United States of America.

It’s been a long time coming, folks. This nation has been through more pain and fear, suffering and loss than we ever believed we’d be capable of. We have heard the cries of “I can’t breathe.” We have rallied around to care for the children ripped from their parents and detained in cages, despite Melania Trump’s fashion declaration that she, in fact, does not. We have mourned every single one of the 237,000 empty kitchen chairs as a result of this pandemic. We have tried so hard to pick up where Elijah Cummings, and John Lewis, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg left off. To carry their torch. To fight the good fight. To get into some good trouble. And we have won.

The majority of the nation is in a state of resounding celebration right now, and it seems that the now Vice President Elect Kamala Harris is certainly no exception.

In footage released on social media, we were able to get a peek into the moment Kamala first spoke with President-elect Joe Biden after networks called the results and this 5 day long book on the US election was finally closed. And to say it will melt your heart is an understatement.

Decked in what looked to be running clothes, with earbuds in one hand and the phone in the other, an unmistakable and unforgettable smile on her face, she tells Joe, “We did it. We did it, Joe. You’re gonna be the next President of the United States.”

I’m not ashamed to admit that the clip brought tears to my eyes. We have been through so much. And we did it.
