We want answers. NOW.

As Congress convened in a joint session today to count and certify the results of the Electoral College vote for President of the United States, which clearly shows Joe Biden as the rightful winner of the election, Trump supporters have officially shown their true colors through violent, destructive protests on the nation’s Capitol.

As we’ve reported throughout the day, Pro-Trump (anti-democracy) protesters have quite literally stormed the Capitol building today as Congress was supposed to be counting and certifying votes, wreaking havoc and violence and forcing the nation’s Capitol into a lockdown in an effort to keep Congresspeople safe. Reports have indicated that members of Congress were told to shelter in place before Vice President Mike Pence and eventually Congressional members were evacuated from the building amid the threats.

It has brought us all back to visions of Black Lives Matter protesters being teargassed in the streets for being too close to the White House, demonstrators who were injured and killed by disgruntled white men, police officers destroying water and supplies by the handfuls, despite the peacefulness of the protests.

That’s why Americans are beyond infuriated, now that video footage is circulating, showing violent Pro-Trump protesters being given safe passage through the Capitol building they stormed.

To say the very least, we want answers:

I could carry on about the racial injustices here, the systemic racism reaching its claws down into the general public. But to be truthfully honest with you, all I can think and feel is the heartbreak over the question, the lives that would have been lost — What if they were black?
