Giuliani Has Coughing Spell During Interview Which He Goes After Biden For Wearing A Mask

Not a good look, Rudy.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani appeared on Fox News Monday night, where he coughed throughout his interview with host Martha MacCallum while he attacked Democratic nominee Joe Biden. Giuliani is waiting for his latest COVID-19 test results, and it was a bad look last night as he lashed out at Biden for listening to experts and wearing a protective face mask.

Giuliani helped Trump prepare for last week’s debate against Biden. Several people in the president’s orbit have contracted the disease, including former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), who also helped with debate preparations.

The former NYC mayor appeared on the show just after Trump returned to the White House and took part in a photo-op featuring the gasping-for-air president removing his face mask. Yup, the first thing this president did upon being released from the hospital was to take off his mask.

Giuliani explained to MacCallum that he recently tested negative for COVID-19, but just before the show, he took a second test, describing it as “one of those all the way in the back of the nose tests,” The Daily Beast reports. MacCallum said that she hopes Giuliani receives “a negative on that one,” and then asked the former mayor and ardent Trump supporter about Biden urging people to wear masks and listen to scientists about the coronavirus.

“Well, I would say to Joe that you don’t really understand what scientists are,” Giuliani insisted. “First of all, listen to your doctors. They know your personal history. Doctors really aren’t scientists. Scientists almost always have competing opinions. That’s what science is about.”

Then Giuliani hit Biden for wearing a mask.

“It isn’t science to be wearing that mask, Joe, when you are giving a speech, and people are 30-40 feet away from you,” Giuliani said. “The only thing you can infect is the teleprompter that’s near you. So, I see through you. That’s a political statement to scare people, wearing that mask. You do not need that mask when you are standing at a podium.”

As the interview went on, Giuliani had to pause several times to cough. MacCallum told Giuliani, “I hope that cough is not anything bad, you’re waiting for your test to come back. We hope you’re going to be healthy and well.” Giuliani responded, “I hope so, too. I’ll let you know tomorrow.”

Watch:

1600 Pennsylvania Ave is definitely a COVID-19 hotspot. Well, despite what Giuliani says, masks don’t “scare” people. The fact that over two hundred and ten thousand Americans have died from the disease is frightening, though. And the fact that Trump’s attorney is railing against the experts amid the raging pandemic is beyond words.
