It seems controversial Colorado Republican House Rep. Lauren Boebert is going to be a single 36-year-old grandmother, as new reporting and a personal statement from the congresswoman herself has confirmed that Lauren Boebert has filed for divorce from her equally highly controversial husband Jayson Boebert after nearly two decades together.

Boebert is a true-blooded “Conservative” if ever there were one, as she has repeatedly touted her belief “that strong families are the foundation of American society.” Yet, reporting from the local Colorado Sun confirmed today that Lauren released a personal written statement announcing her divorce. The report noted that Lauren and Jayson Boebert have been married for nearly 20 years and share four sons together.

In a written statement released by Lauren Boebert, the congresswoman announced:

It is with a heavy weight on my heart that I have filed for divorce from my husband. I am grateful for our years of marriage together and for our beautiful children, all of whom deserve privacy and love as we work through this process. I’ve always been faithful in my marriage, and I believe strongly in marriage, which makes this announcement that much more difficult.”

Boebert further added, “This is truly about irreconcilable differences. I do not intend to discuss this matter any further in public out of respect for our children, and will continue to work hard to represent the people of Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District.”

Lauren was seemingly sure to leave out any details concerning what those irreconcilable differences are. However, she does make a point to note her own faithfulness throughout her marriage and there’s certainly no denying that Jayson Boebert has long been steeped in serious and disturbing controversy of his own.

“Jayson Boebert pleaded guilty to public indecency and lewd exposure after allegedly exposing himself to two girls at a bowling alley in January 2004. In her book, Boebert wrote that Jayson never displayed his genitals, but that he ‘acted like he was going to unzip his pants,'” the Colorado Sun reported. “Boebert wrote that Jayson ‘needed the alcohol and anger management classes that came with the plea deal’ in the indecent exposure case.”
