Mitch McConnell Just Publicly Responded To Donald Trump’s Newest Nasty Nickname For Him And The Senator’s Shade Is Honestly On Point

Once again, Donald Trump has found himself very upset with the now-Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. And we all know what happens when Trump gets upset with someone — he starts breaking out the nasty nicknames, each one more ridiculous, childish, and immature than the last.

But it seems McConnell isn’t phased by Trump’s various new derogatory monikers much anymore. In fact, not only do they not appear to bother him at all, McConnell is embracing the new endearments from the former president, even going so far as to apparently take the newest nickname as a compliment.

Mitch once again found himself at the center of Donald Trump’s unhinged rage in one of his “official” statements last week, in which the one-term, twice-impeached former guy was responding to former Vice President Mike Pence’s very public rebuke of Trump’s claims regarding a VP’s power to overturn a presidential election.

Senator McConnell got wrapped up in the blast.

“Just saw Mike Pence’s statement on the fact that he had no right to do anything with respect to the Electoral Vote Count, other than being an automatic conveyor belt for the Old Crow Mitch McConnell to get Biden elected President as quickly as possible,” Trump fumed in the statement.

However, Mitch just doesn’t give a damn what Donald has to say anymore.

During a recent interview with the Washington Examiner, Mitch directly responded to Trump’s statement, and more specifically the ex-president’s newest nickname for the Senate Minority Leader that was very obviously meant to be an insult. But McConnell just says it’s his drink of choice.

“It’s my favorite bourbon,” McConnell said of the “Old Crow” nickname Trump dubbed him with, referencing a brand of bourbon whiskey that’s manufactured in Mitch’s home state of Kentucky. Old Crow is a brand of bourbon whiskey that is distilled by Beam Suntory, the very same company that manufactures Jim Beam and various other whiskey brands.

Speaking to a member of his staff during the interview, the KY senator said, “Aren’t we using Old Crow as my moniker now? It was Henry Clay’s favorite bourbon.”

Henry Clay was a Kentucky politician back in the 1800s, serving in both the Kentucky Senate and House of Representatives, as well as the ninth secretary of state of the US in the first half of the century.

Later on in the interview, McConnell went on to address Trump’s threats to oust him as the top Republican in the Senate, saying that he’s not a bit worried about Donald Trump or what he has to say, noting that no other Senate Republicans seem to share Trump’s feelings on the subject of replacing Mitch.

“Every reporter in town, including, I’m sure, you, have been probing to find one for months, right?” McConnell questioned the interviewer. “Have you found one?”

Of course, while Trump is notorious for coming up with off-the-wall nicknames for whomever he’s currently enraged with, this is far from the first time the ex-president has dubbed Mitch McConnell “Old Crow.” The senator previously called the nickname an “honor,” once again citing the connection between the name and Henry Clay.

It seems Trump just isn’t accomplishing what he was hoping for here.
