Mitch McConnell Released A Memo Outlining How Senate Would Handle Trump’s Second Impeachment Trial

This could be a very big deal.

After everything that has transpired over the course of the last two days, it has become above and beyond apparent that, even though he only has just a few days left in office, something has to be done about Donald J. Trump.

Trump has spent the entirety of his four-year term as President of the United States spitting in the face of everything good and just this once-great nation stands for and for the most part, he has yet to pay for a single one of his many, many sins.

However, for many people within the US government, Democratic and Republican alike, the riots that took place at our nation’s Capitol building on Wednesday, at the hands of Donald’s most devout supporters was the straw that broke the camel’s back. While Trump himself didn’t storm into the Capitol, many feel as though he may as well have — as it was his continuous touting of baseless conspiracy theories and thinly-veiled calls to action that brought this all about in the first place.

At this point, Trump only has less than two weeks left before the powers of the presidency no longer belong to him — a fact that even he seems to have finally accepted in what was the closest thing we will likely ever get to a concession speech from him last night. But after all that he’s put us through, after an attack on our nation’s Capitol building that was a direct result of his behavior, simply allowing him to ride out his final days is not enough. There is no justice. And this country deserves justice against its abuser.

So, Democrats have made it clear that one of two things needs to happen — either Mike Pence works up the nerve to invoke the 25th Amendment against Donald Trump, or they move forward with impeaching him… Again.

As expected, Pence has made it rather clear that invoking the 25th simply isn’t on his to-do list; it seems he’s willing to go down with the sinking ship after all. So, in the eyes of Congressional Democrats, there is only one thing left to do. And, according to a new report from The Washington Post, while Mitch McConnell may not be on board with the impeachment plan, he is sending out a memo to his fellow members of Congress, outlining the procedure with which the Senate would conduct a second impeachment trial against Donald Trump.

Truthfully, there wasn’t much of anything of any consequence in McConnell’s memo — It was mostly just full of procedural Congress things like when they’re in session and when the impeachment proceedings would be picked up, all of which you can read for yourself here. However, what is notable, is the fact that it just much looks as though this could happen. And soon. (Not to mention, Mitch himself reportedly is none too happy with The Donald.)

To some, it may seem silly to impeach Trump so close to Biden’s inauguration. But really, it’s not. This man will be back. He will be back for another bite of our country in less than four years and we have seen how rapid his base truly is. If something substantial is not done, he will destroy us all over again.
