Just earlier today, bombshell news broke from CBS News chief election and campaign correspondent Robert Costa, who took to Twitter and reported that attorneys representing scandal-plagued former President Donald Trump in the DOJ’s range of investigations were spotted entering the US Justice Department, for what is assumed to be a meeting between the legal representatives and DOJ investigators and prosecutors, as multiple experts and sources say charges in the infamous stolen document scandal are on the horizon.
In addition to the 2020 election and January 6th Capitol insurrection investigations, Garland-appointed DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith and his team have been investigating Donald Trump’s unlawful removal of classified government documents upon the end of his presidency and his subsequent decisions to retain, hide, and refuse to return the classified materials despite multiple legal efforts by the US federal government.
Costa further cited inside sources who confirmed that a decision from Jack Smith regarding criminal charges against Donald Trump is imminent.
Now, the Wall Street Journal is out with new reporting, exposing the details of what took place inside that bombshell, closed-door meeting between the DOJ and Donald Trump’s team of attorneys.

Inside sources spoke with the publication and confirmed that Donald Trump’s legal team went into the meeting with the goal “to argue against any indictment of the former president over his handling of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort.”
Recent reports have confirmed that Trump attorneys John Rowley, James Trusty, and Lindsey Halligan had requested a meeting with Biden-era Attorney General Merrick Garland himself, ahead of any possible official indictments against the ex-president. However, reporting has confirmed that neither Garland nor his Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco were expected to attend today’s meeting.
In the weeks leading up to today’s explosive and, frankly, damning meeting between the DOJ and the Trump legal team, Smith and his prosecutors and investigators had ramped up their efforts to acquire testimonies around southern Florida with regard to the infamous stolen government document scandal. Sources have since spoken with WSJ and confirmed that this was an effort on Smith’s part to tie up the last remaining loose ends of the investigation.
