It certainly looks like Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s newest bombshell scandal has likely left the rest of his party shaking in the boots as the January 6th House Select Committee’s investigation into the violent, deadly Capitol attack reaches a thundering fever pitch.
McCarthy was, as we’re all well aware now, brutally busted in a big, fat, flat-out lie to the New York Times, after he blatantly denied saying he would ask Donald Trump to resign after the January 6th Capitol riot — only for MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow to play a leaked clip of him literally saying it during her segment.
Maddow’s clip, which she obtained from Times reporters Alexander Burns and Jonathan Martin, of course, proved with 100 percent certainty that McCarthy blatantly, bald-faced lied when he denied that saying he was going to ask for Trump to resign from the presidency on the heels of the January 6th insurrection.
Now, former U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance is explaining the psychological impact this scandal is likely having on the rest of the Republican party.

“They’re all scared that there are tapes now. Family, members of Congress, party officials. They’re going over every conversation they had in their minds, thinking thru whether someone might have taped them. It’s a powerful incentive for people to decide to cooperate with prosecutors,” Vance explained in a Twitter post, retweeting the news that Donald Trump’s own eldest and most devout son, Don Jr., has now surprisingly agreed to cooperate with and appear before the House Select Committee.

And, as it turns out, McCarthy isn’t the only one who will likely end up busted on his BS by the time it’s all said and done, as Times reporter Jonathan Martin has confirmed that there are, in fact, more tapes.
“We have a lot more on tape from this period … it is sensitive, it is delicate, and we have it all on tape,” New York Times reporter Jonathan Martin says. “It’s going to tell a very different story about this period than the story that many people are trying to tell right now.” pic.twitter.com/oaEG7qSidx

It looks as though this is about to turn into a mad dash of Republicans rushing to get ahead of this thing and try to save themselves… While they still can.
