Republican Senator Marco Rubio got his ass handed to him on Twitter today after he launched a nasty, uninformed attack against Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin for wearing a mask and a face shield when he arrived in the Philippines.
“Embarrassing COVID theatre,” Rubio said, attacking Austin, noting that the Defense Secretary is vaccinated against COVID-19.

However, it seems Rubio didn’t get the memo that both face shields and masks are mandated in the Philippines — which would perfectly explain why not only Austin was wearing one, but everyone around him in the video, as well. Thus far, it’s unclear if Rubio intentionally left that detail out of his tweet (and why he would do that) or if he genuinely didn’t know the mandates in the country.

But nevertheless, the Florida GOPer has yet to remove the tweet or recant his tone-deaf, uninformed statement. So, to say the very least, social media tore him to pieces, as they rightfully should, with many of them pointing out what a flaming idiot he truly is:
