President Joe Biden offered some remarks on Thursday on the first anniversary of when a mob of Trump supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol to stop the peaceful transition of power. Biden tore into Trump without mentioning his name, and I’m pretty sure his predecessor is suffering from a narcissistic injury after listening to that powerful speech.

“For the first time in our history, a president had not just lost an election. He tried to prevent the peaceful transfer of power as a violent mob reached the Capitol,” Biden said in a speech from the Capitol. “But they failed. They failed. And on this day of remembrance, we must make sure that such an attack never, never happens again.”

“His bruised ego matters more to him than our democracy or our Constitution. He can’t accept he lost,” he continued.

Biden went on to praise the police officers who defended the Capitol.

“One year ago today in this sacred place, democracy was attacked — simply attacked. The will of the people was under assault, the Constitution — our Constitution — faced the gravest of threats,” the President said. “Outnumbered in the face of a brutal attack, the Capitol Police, the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, the National Guard, and other brave law enforcement officials saved the rule of law. Our democracy held. We the people endured. We the people prevailed.”

He took several shots at Trump.

Biden said as the attack unfolded, former President Donald Trump, “who had just rallied the mob,” was “watching it all on television, and doing nothing for hours as police were assaulted.”

He said that Trump’s “supporters are trying to rewrite history” and say that Election Day 2020 was the real insurrection. “Can you think of a more twisted way to look at this country? To look at America?” he said.

“He’s not just a former president, he’s a defeated former president,” Biden said. “Defeated by a margin of over seven million of your votes.”

Watch:

President Biden straight-up called Trump a liar, and a man that’s incapable of accepting defeat. That was probably the most powerful speech that Biden has ever given in his career.
