Who is Kari Lake? Kari Lake is a former TV news anchor turned politician, now running as the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in Arizona in 2024. She first gained attention in the 2022 Arizona governor’s race but lost that election. Now she’s back, and this time, she’s making headlines for being upset about hamburgers! It’s hard to believe, but here we are.
Recently, Kari Lake took to social media to complain that “a little bit” of hamburger was costing $13, and she blamed it on the Democrats. Ron Filipkowski, who keeps an eye on Republican politicians, shared her video, sparking a firestorm of responses. People were quick to point out how ridiculous her complaint sounded.

One Twitter user, 𝗯𝗹𝘆6262 (@infinity62Lib), didn’t mince words: “Name how many Democrats own that store, and lady, this is why you lost all your elections because you don’t have the brains that God supposedly gave you.” Another user, Amy ♀️ NMTrue (@aehmnm69), replied to the tweet saying: “3 pounds of ground beef for $13 is a decent price. And that appears to be the size of the package she picked up. Of course, she probably doesn’t cook so she might not know.” And Scottiev (@scottiev) added with a simple observation:
“That’s like 3 pounds!”

What’s amusing is that Kari Lake and other Republicans often blame Democrats for just about everything that goes wrong. They complain a lot but never really have any solutions. When it comes to the price of hamburgers, though, the truth isn’t so simple.
Sure, prices have gone up, but this isn’t all because of Democrats. The COVID-19 pandemic messed up supply chains and caused shortages in many industries, including food production. But something else happened too—corporations took advantage of the situation and started charging higher prices to make even bigger profits. According to a study by the Economic Policy Institute, more than half of the rise in prices was due to corporations increasing their profit margins. That’s right—big companies were squeezing customers, but Kari Lake and others like her would rather point fingers at Democrats.
One user, Michael Theo (@MichaelThe47639), put it perfectly when he tweeted: “@KariLake tell us exactly what policies affect the prices that corporations set for their products. Please enlighten us. Psycho.” Another user, Jay Bivens (@wjbivens), added, “She’s so in touch, she doesn’t understand unit price (per pound).”

Kari Lake’s rant fits right into a pattern we’ve seen from Republicans for years. Just like Donald Trump, Lake loves to stir up drama without addressing the real issues. Remember when Trump promised to help the economy but passed tax cuts that mainly benefited the rich? Lake is using the same tactics—blame others, distract from the facts, and hope no one notices what’s really going on.
While Kari Lake is busy complaining about hamburger prices, it makes you wonder how out of touch she really is. The truth is, Democrats don’t control food prices, and her complaints show she doesn’t understand the economy very well. Maybe next time she’s at the store, someone could explain what a unit price is! Hopefully, voters will see through this and ask for better leadership.
