Trump Acknowledges Cinco De Mayo By Retweeting A Picture Of Himself Eating A Taco Salad: “I Love Hispanics!”

Uhm...

As the catastrophic coronavirus pandemic continues to relentlessly beat down on the United States and the rest of the world, yet another holiday has come to pass that people are unable to celebrate in their traditional way.

Today is Cinco De Mayo — a day that white folks tend to hijack as an excuse to eat Americanized Mexican food and drink a whole hell of a lot of beer (although perhaps not Corona this year).

For those that hail from Mexico, the holiday is somewhat comparable to our Fourth of July, and marks the anniversary of the “Mexican Army’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza.”

For Donald Trump, it’s evidently a good opportunity to talk about himself while he continues to get us all killed in new, cruel, and unusual ways every day.

Donald finally decided to acknowledge the Mexican holiday on Twitter this afternoon — one celebrated by thousands of Hispanic-Americans in this country every year — but like pretty much all the rest of his tweets, we’re once again left wishing he’d just kept his mouth shut.

The guy that currently has countless brown children and families indefinitely locked in cages at our southern border and is using a literal pandemic to peddle his agenda of even crueler immigration policies took to his social media account this afternoon with a retweet of his own tweet from back in 2016, in which he wished us all a happy Cinco De Mayo, touted the taco bowls made at his Trump Tower Grill restaurant and declared, “I love Hispanics!”

“Remember this? Happy #CincoDeMayo!” Trump captioned the tweet.

Suffice it to say that Twitter was not impressed:

Go chase that taco bowl with some Aderrall and stay off Twitter, dude.
