Trump Unleashes Crude Nickname For Rising Democratic Star In Early-Morning Meltdown

The obsession continues

Donald Trump is in France for the G7 summit. He has met Emmanuel Macron, gone through another one of those famous handshakes, attended bilateral meetings, and held onto Narendra Modi’s arm while climbing a single step for the group photo. Wednesday morning, he woke up in Evian and decided to spend part of his day posting about a Democratic senator from Georgia he claims nobody knows.

The post appeared at 8:50 a.m. local time.

“So happy for highly respected Congressman Mike Collins. He will win his Senate Race in Georgia against a pathetic failed Dumocrat Senator, Os(j—!)off, who is a joke in D.C. Nobody even knows who he is!!!” Trump wrote. “I’ll be doing Big TRUMP Rallies for Mike in Georgia! President DJT.”

The target of that post was Jon Ossoff, one of the most closely watched Democratic senators in the country.

Ossoff, 38, won the 2021 runoff that handed Democrats control of the Senate. People have been comparing him to Barack Obama for years, and his name already appears regularly in discussions about the 2028 presidential race. His reelection campaign is also expected to become the most expensive Senate contest of the 2026 midterms.

Trump endorsed Congressman Mike Collins only days before Tuesday’s Republican runoff. Collins went on to defeat Derek Dooley, the candidate backed by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp.

The endorsement may have pleased Trump, but reports suggest it has not produced much enthusiasm in every corner of the Republican Party.

According to those reports, internal polling has consistently shown Collins running behind where Dooley would have been against Ossoff. Collins also enters the race carrying problems of his own. He is currently under review by the House Ethics Committee over allegations that former chief of staff Brandon Phillips hired his girlfriend as a campaign intern and paid her more than $10,000 for little or no work.

Phillips was fired in May after Collins’ campaign account referred to the wife of a Republican strategist, who had accused Matt Lauer of rape, as “Matt Laurer’s [sic] sloppy seconds.” Collins later described the post as offensive and apologized.

Ossoff chose not to respond to Trump’s nickname.

His statement focused entirely on Collins.

“Collins, who is only a congressman because his daddy was a congressman, voted to double health insurance premiums for more than a million Georgians, for the Iran war, and for the Trump tariffs,” Ossoff said.
