President Donald Trump has made history: He’s become the first president to have only subtracted female cabinet secretaries.

According to The Daily Beast, “every single person to have left President Donald Trump’s second-term Cabinet so far has, without exception, been a woman.” This includes Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Attorney General Pam Bondi, Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. Bondi and Noem were fired, Chavez-DeRemer resigned after a series of scandals, and Gabbard recently stepped down, citing her husband’s health troubles.

As noted by the Washington Post, all four secretaries have been replaced by men, in some cases on an interim basis. At the same time, no male cabinet secretaries have been replaced since the start of Trump’s second term. Susie Wiles remains White House chief of staff, although Wiles has had to deny reports that she’s planning to leave soon.

Secretary of Education Linda McMahon, Small Business Administrator Kelly Loeffler, and Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins remain the only female cabinet secretaries.

The Post noted that when Trump recently met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, everyone present at the meeting on both sides was a man, which was very much not the case when Trump and Xi last met in 2017, during Trump’s first term.

“The all-male delegation exemplifies a broader trend within the Trump administration’s hiring practices for senior executive branch roles that require Senate approval. Data reviewed by The Washington Post shows that Trump has selected fewer women to serve in these senior roles than during the same period of his first term. There also has been a historic amount of turnover among women in Trump’s Cabinet,” the Post said.

“The Trump White House has expressed pride in the fact that some key senior staff have been the first women to hold certain titles, including Susie Wiles as chief of staff, and defended the president’s hiring choices in a statement to The Post.”
