President Donald Trump doesn’t like losing, and he likes calling other people losers. So his party’s wipeout loss in Tuesday’s midterm elections likely caused some cognitive dissonance for the president. A reporter asking him about being a loser did too.

Appearing Friday for a press gaggle before boarding Marine One, the president was asked, “How does it feel being a loser, Mr. President?” as he walked away. Trump, carrying a large umbrella, did not respond.

The person asking the question appears to be Sky News International Affairs editor Dominic Waghorn:

Waghorn later discussed that moment on Sky News. He stated that he had wanted to ask Trump a question about Iran, a country that Waghorn has reported from, and whether Trump planned to restart the war there now that the midterm election is over.

He added that “I was keen to ask him, as a politician, as a person, who someone who doesn’t like losers, how did he feel, being one?” He said he thinks Trump heard the question but decided not to answer it.

He believes that Trump is still “processing” the midterm election loss, but has become to come out of that by naming Stephen Miller his new White House chief of staff, replacing Susie Wiles. Waghnorn speculated that Miller’s appointment could lead to more of a “hard line” overseas as well.

Social media users had thoughts about that moment:
