After Trump Claimed West Point Asked Him To “Be There” For Graduation Ceremony, A Graduate Set The Record Straight — Said Trump Was Not Asked To Participate

West Point didn't want anything to do with a five-time draft dodger.

President Donald Trump’s sudden urge to go speak at West Point earlier this month appears to have been all his idea after a West Point graduate claimed that nobody asked him to be there.

Frankly, Trump has no business even stepping foot inside a distinguished military academy since he himself dodged the draft five times to avoid serving during the Vietnam War, not to mention the terrible way he has treated members of our armed forces during his presidency. After all, Trump has pardoned a Navy SEAL accused of war crimes and fired USS Theodore Roosevelt Captain Brett Crozier for protecting the 4,000+ men and women under his command. And that’s not to mention his failure to condemn the Russians for offering bounties for the killing of American soldiers, the ultimate disgrace.

The New York Times reported that Trump forced 1,000 cadets to return to the academy even though they are scattered across the country and hunkering down due to the coronavirus pandemic. Gathering them could end up causing an outbreak among the cadets, and many actually did end up getting sick, meaning they are being forced to risk their health and lives just so Trump can stroke his ego and pretend he’s one of them. And with the death toll having passed 125,000 and second waves of the virus popping up in states re-opening early, it was a really bad idea for these cadets to gather for what amounted to another campaign rally/airing of grievances.

Trump had insisted that West Point asked him to speak.

But West Point graduate and VoteVets Director of Government Relations Will Goodwin disputed Trump’s claim.

As we all should know by now, Trump has a tendency to lie about people liking him and lying about being invited on shows and to events.

The fact is that Trump did not specify who asked him to be there and you can be sure that very few of the 1,000 cadets who are being forced to attend are actually thrilled to do so. They would rather be home protecting themselves and their families at this time. Instead, they have to listen to an ignorant lunatic who thinks Pulitzer Prizes are “Noble” Prizes and that disinfectants can be injected or inhaled to treat coronavirus.

It’s really pathetic and embarrassing for West Point.
