If you watched even a few moments of the Senate confirmation hearings for President Biden’s Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson this week, you know just as well as I do what an absolute shitshow it was. And not because of Judge Jackson, who was nothing short of the absolute epitome of poise, grace, level-headedness, competence, and self-control. But rather, because of the certain few Republican senators who made complete and utter asses out of themselves and, by default, their entire party, for no damn good reason, just short of trying to get their 15 minutes of viral fame on Fox News and OANN.
I’m serious, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen such an absolute dog and pony show as what Senators Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, and Lindsey Graham pulled this week. It was genuinely embarrassing to know that these immature halfwits were being broadcast on TV as some sort of representation of the United States of America.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz quite literally brought children’s books into the hearing to scream at Jackson about Critical Race Theory; South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham actually stormed out of the confirmation hearings not once, but twice — once over her advocacy for Guantanamo Bay detainees, and the second time over the notion that she’s somehow been soft on child pornography defendants through her career; and Missouri Senator Josh Hawley went so unhinged that his rhetoric actually served as fuel for violent, online QAnon chatter.
All of these nonsense talking points wrapped together were completely laid to waste by the testimony that was delivered during Jackson’s hearing by the American Bar Association.

And don’t even get me started on Republicans’ behavior during Judge Jackson’s hearing compared to the Brett Kavanaugh fiasco.
But nevertheless, Republicans as a whole continue to operate under the full belief that what is good for the goose, is not always good for the gander, when they happen to be the gander in the situation.
During Trump’s Commerce, Georgia, rally tonight, he laid into the topic of Jackson’s confirmation hearings and had the absolute audacity to say this:
Judge Jackson was unbelievably disrespectful to Republican Senators that in many cases were really nicely asking questions. She had total disdain and even hatred for them. And I understand that she is very proud of the fact that she never once voted to support President Trump on anything. She always voted against me and she brags about it. How about that? Is that nice?”

First off, that third-person thing he does creeps me out. Secondly, tell me you didn’t actually pay attention to the hearings without telling me you didn’t actually pay attention to the hearings.
We all saw what your cronies did, Donald. And absolutely none of it was “nice.”
