Trump National Doral Miami now has something in the same aesthetic family. Standing fifteen feet tall, finished in gold leaf, arm raised, and commissioned by a cryptocurrency group.
The statue, nicknamed Don Colossus by the people who made it and everyone who has seen it since, was installed at the Doral resort ahead of the PGA Tour’s Cadillac Championship.
Ohio-based sculptor Alan Cottrill created the 3.1-ton bronze piece and pitched the gold-leaf finish to a group that included two White House representatives, two representatives from the $PATRIOT crypto group, Trump’s spiritual adviser, and two Doral Golf Club representatives.
When he showed Pastor Mark Burns an image, Burns reportedly said: “Wow… sending to the president.”
Trump replied: “It LOOKS FANTASTIC.”

Cottrill described the gold pitch as effortless. “It’s like pitching ice water to a man dying of thirst,” he told the Irish Star. “It was not a hard sell.”
The White House has since stated it has no connection to the statue or the cryptocurrency group that funded it. The president, however, personally approved the gold finish.
Former NBCUniversal senior executive Mike Sington posted a side-by-side comparison on X, writing: “Trump’s Doral National golf course in Miami installs gold statue of Trump, which is remarkably similar to one of Dear Leader in North Korea.”

Who paid for this…. I can almost guarantee this didnt come from Trump’s personal money. Some ‘donations’, I’m sure.

Which one is Trump?

The White House did not respond to any of those posts.
The North Korea comparison carries particular weight given Trump’s documented admiration for Kim Jong Un. Having once called Kim “Little Rocket Man” and boasted about the size of his nuclear button, Trump later described the two as falling in love after exchanging “beautiful letters.”
As recently as this April, Trump said he “got along very well” with Kim and noted that the North Korean dictator had used a derogatory term to mock Joe Biden’s mental fitness. The gold statue, therefore, exists in a specific context of documented affection for the man whose country it most closely resembles.
Cottrill received $300,000 for the bronze and $60,000 for the gold leafing, plus an additional $90,000 after $PATRIOT used images of the statue for crypto marketing before the sale was finalized.
