Ivanka Reportedly Declined To Be Interviewed By NYT About Campaign Comeback, Asked Them To ‘Talk To Jared’ Instead

A New York Times piece looked into where Ivanka Trump has been.

During Donald Trump’s first campaign and throughout his presidency, there was a tendency among some resistance types to view Ivanka Trump as something of a sympathetic figure, a “moderating influence” on her father. The idea was that Ivanka, unlike her two obnoxious brothers, had a friendlier public persona, and was working in the White House, along with her husband, Jared Kushner.

In reality, however, there was little indication that this was ever true. If Ivanka made any effort to “moderate” her father’s worst tendencies and instincts, there was little indication that it worked. There would merely be constant leaks that Ivanka “quietly” disapproved of some controversial Trump initiative.

And while Ivanka remained in her official role for Trump’s entire presidency, both she and her husband have had nothing to do with Trump’s post-presidency political operation, or with his current campaign.

The New York Times reported this week about what Ivanka has been up to since her father left office, noting that she has been “noticeably absent” of late. While she’s been spotted everywhere from Greece to Kim Kardashian’s Malibu home, Ivanka has not been on the campaign trail, nor did she speak at the Republican convention, unlike her father’s two previous campaigns.

Ivanka declined to speak with the Times, asking that they speak to her husband instead. And per the Times, “when asked the chances that she might rejoin the campaign fray in the final stretch of the race, Mr. Kushner was blunt- ‘zero.'” Kushner added that Ivanka  “made the decision when she left Washington that she was closing that chapter of her life. And she’s been remarkably consistent.”

Jared Kushner has also, it appears, not been involved in the campaign, and is not expected to have an official role should Trump regain the White House. He also has considerable international business ties, that could stand to enrich the couple, in a second Trump presidency.
