So, what’s rarer than Melania Trump showing up at one of her husband’s rallies? Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner showing up at one of his rallies. Apparently, according to an interview with The New York Times, things are going to stay that way. Even if dear old Dad wins the election (egads), Kushner says he and Ivanka plan to stay away from politics.
“We’re rooting for him—obviously, we’re proud of him,” Kushner said. “But, you know, either way, our life will just continue to move forward.”
Kushner is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, Forbes notes, and of course, he has a bushel of business ties in the Middle East (including ties to a certain Saudi Crown prince who was allegedly connected to the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi). But he told the NYT that his father-in-law and former boss winding up in the White House wouldn’t create “a major shift in terms of what we prioritize,” The Daily Beast reports.
Kushner, 43, and Ivanka, 42 were married in 2009. The couple has three kids who are 13, 11, and eight years old, respectively, and live in Miami, Florida, near Mar-a-Lago. They relocated to Florida after dear old Dad left office (against his will) in January 2021 and their jobs as his presidential advisers ended.

This time around, the couple cited their kids as the reason they were leaving the political scene in November 2022, when Trump said he intended to seek reelection.
“While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside the political arena,” Ivanka said at the time in a statement.
And Ivanka has kept her word. She completely avoided the campaign trail with her dad this time around after being perhaps his biggest cheerleader in 2016 and 2020, having introduced Trump at the RNC both years.
My guess is that she’s stayed out to avoid being thrown under the bus by her father like he did on the day of the insurrection on January 6, 2021, when she had the cojones to question his claims about “widespread voter fraud.”
You may recall he posted this gem on Truth Social:
“Ivanka Trump was not involved in looking at, or studying, Election results,” Trump posted on Truth Social, his social media platform. “She had long since checked out and was, in my opinion, only trying to be respectful to Bill Barr and his position as Attorney General (he sucked!).”
Gee, thanks, Dad!
This may be why Ivanka hasn’t stumped for women’s votes in Pennsylvania or other swing states, but that doesn’t mean she hasn’t kept herself busy. The NYT reports she’s been involved in plenty of things — posing for photos in front of the Eiffel Tower, gallivanting with her husband at the Acropolis, and captured hanging out with Kim Kardashian in Malibu, sitting in the fancy seats at the Miami Open in March and at a New York Mets game this past summer.
But her absence from politics is definitely notable. She didn’t speak at the RNC in Milwaukee, showing up only briefly on the last day. She also avoided the entirety of her dad’s hush-money trial in Manhattan. Perhaps seeing her father convicted of all 34 felony counts wasn’t on her bucket list.
And now that the election is down to the wire, Ivanka has been even more elusive than her stepmom, Melania Trump, who briefly appeared at Trump’s rally in Madison Square Garden on Sunday. Her absence is likely to continue until well past the election. Kushner has flatly stated he and Ivanka will not show up in the race’s final week. He bluntly told the NYT that the chances of them stumping for her father were “zero.”
Perhaps this couple has learned that they need Donald Trump like they need a migraine. Ivanka probably understands that this man will throw anyone under the bus when needed. Trump would do that to his own mom if she weren’t dead.
So at least we won’t perhaps be annoyed with Jarvanka if Dad wins, but we will be stuck with J.D. Vance if Trump’s time on Earth is shorter than expected.
I hope people remember that last part. All’s I’m gonna say.
