Kai Trump Is Facing Intense Backlash After Calling The White House ‘My House’ During A Viral Tour

A tour takes a turn

Donald Trump’s granddaughter Kai posted a White House tour this week and introduced the building as “my house.” The community note that followed pointed out she lives in Florida, has never lived at the White House and recently graduated high school there.

The tour itself, to be fair, contained genuinely useful information that no official White House communications have provided.

Kai began the tour by greeting a portrait of George Washington, calling him her “best friend.” Walking through the ground floor, she joked that she “used to play soccer in these halls.” Her tour explanations were equally casual. While showing the Red Room, she remarked, “As you can tell it’s red and that’s why they call it the Red Room.” Outside on the South Lawn, viewers could still see remnants of the UFC Freedom 250 construction.

“Everything is gold… he loves gold, it’s like his favorite thing on the planet, if you guys hadn’t noticed,” Kai said. “He has very, very good attention to detail. So everything that he thought should be made gold, he made gold.” She panned across the gold tray of Sharpie pens on the desk and then revealed the red button used to summon someone to bring Trump a Diet Coke, a piece of presidential infrastructure that has now been confirmed to millions of people who previously could only speculate about its existence.

The reaction divided along predictable lines, though not entirely.

The White House has not addressed whether the tour required formal approval, whether the Diet Coke button was cleared for public disclosure or whether future grandchildren will be offered similar access.
