Multiple levels of the Pentagon were locked down on Thursday morning after hazardous materials were suspected there.

According to CNN, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell stated that they “have detected an air quality issue necessitating precautionary measures until we determine its significance.”

“The Department is executing standard protection protocols, including a shelter-in-place order for the affected area,” the spokesman added. “Response teams are in place and ready to support building occupants.”
“Floors two through five in corridors four through seven of the sprawling Pentagon complex have been locked down, two of the sources said,” CNN said. “The third source told CNN that police in the building are wearing gas masks and full chemical protective gear.”

CNN subsequently reported that the incident was in fact a false alarm.
Axios reported more about the incident, including that the Arlington County Fire Department was assisting.

Zachary Cohen, who covers the Pentagon for CNN, reported on X that “the evacuation was triggered when a Pentagon sensor system detected the possible presence of anthrax, according to first responder radio traffic and a source familiar with the incident. But the sensor system was malfunctioning, one source said, causing the false alarm.”
The incident, or lack thereof at the Pentagon came as the president has been threatening to once again attack Iran.
“The United States will be hitting Iran (Whose Navy, Air Force, Radar, Anti Aircraft, and all other forms of Defense, together with most of its offensive capability, are GONE!), VERY HARD TONIGHT,” the president threatened on Truth Social.
“At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets, much like we have with Venezuela, which is working out brilliantly for both Venezuela and the United States of America,” the president said.
