Donald Trump, a man who apparently will not rest until every dollar in the U.S. Treasury has been personally summoned into existence by a Truth Social post, is back at it again.
Less than 24 hours after signing a $70 billion immigration enforcement bill, which he reportedly had to be reminded to actually sign after wandering off mid rambling in the Oval Office, the 79-year-old president returned to social media with another request for Congress.
The request was not exactly modest. Trump wants lawmakers to move immediately on another massive spending package, making this his third major funding push in just six months.
In the post, Trump declared: “I am hereby calling on Republicans in Congress to IMMEDIATELY advance and pass the forthcoming $350 Billion Reconciliation Bill (Recon 3.0) — which, at the request of our Great Department of War — will include THE SAVE AMERICA ACT as well. No games, no delays, and no weak compromises! Do this ASAP.”

The all caps alone suggest a man who has fully abandoned the idea that lowercase letters serve any useful purpose.
The scale of the request was something else. Trump described the measure as “the ONLY path to the full $1.5 TRILLION DOLLAR Military Budget our Warriors need in order to build THE ARSENAL OF FREEDOM.”
He also promised the bill would fund the Golden Dome project, a so-called Golden Fleet of battleships, and help “dominate the skies with the F-47 and B-21.”

What makes the request even more remarkable is how much Congress has already approved.
Trump’s first major package was the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a tax and spending package that Congress passed last July and which delivered $140 billion to ICE and CBP alone.
Wednesday brought the $70 billion Secure America Act. While signing it, Trump said it would “provide crucial funding for domestic law enforcement investigations and combating child exploitation, continuing our work to restore law and order across our nation.”
Before the ink on that bill had much chance to settle, Trump was already asking lawmakers to start work on another one.
Not everyone in his own party seems eager to go along.
Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Susan Collins called a third bill a “terrible risk” that could create funding “instability” for defense efforts. Senate Appropriations Defense Subcommittee Chair Mitch McConnell offered an even shorter review, saying “it’s safe to conclude there will not be another reconciliation bill.”
The SAVE America Act, Trump’s other favorite item in the proposal, is also running into familiar problems. When Lindsey Graham and Mike Lee tried to attach it to the immigration funding bill last week, the effort fell well short of 60 votes, and several Republicans joined the opposition, including Collins, McConnell, Murkowski and Tillis.
The vote count was only part of the challenge. The Senate parliamentarian had already determined that the SAVE America Act did not comply with budget reconciliation rules, leading Trump to urge Majority Leader John Thune to remove the parliamentarian.
