Scandal-plagued former President and presumptive 2024 Republican nominee Donald Trump is currently facing down an unprecedented array of criminal charges, across multiple states, from multiple entities, for a nearly countless number of crimes. Among those cases against him is the infamous Stormy Daniels Hush Money case in Manhattan, spearheaded by District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
In the notorious Hush Money case, Trump stands charged and accused of ordering hush money payments to two women he had extramarital affairs with during his 2016 presidential campaign for the purpose of reducing harm to his campaign if the affairs were to go public, making the payments illegal campaign contributions, which constitutes a felony, according to DA Bragg.
This case is largely considered to be the least damaging to the former president with specific regard to his 2024 presidential campaign. However, according to one key former insider who not only served in the Trump White House during his first term but was considered a personal friend to the then-First Lady, the hush money case is, was, and has been absolutely pivotal and top-tier for Donald’s wife Melania — in large part because she didn’t want to find herself comparable to Hillary Clinton when the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke.
Stephanie Grisham, who once served as Donald Trump’s White House press secretary, appeared on CNN’s Out Front and revealed: “This is very personal to him. This is an embarrassment to him for with his family and more importantly, with his wife Melania.”

Grisham, who also spent some time as Melania’s Chief of Staff during 45’s term explained that this particular case has been and remains a monumental source of stress for the Trump family as a whole.
Trump has, of course, pleaded not guilty to the hush money charges lodged against him, as he has with all of the criminal cases against him, and, barring any further delays, the case is set to go to trial on Monday.
“I spent a ton of time with her when the news was breaking about Stormy Daniels when we were in the White House. And then of course with Karen McDougal, who was the former Playboy playmate; when those came out that he allegedly had these affairs and she didn’t take it lightly at all,” Grisham explained before going on to recall being in the White House with the Trumps while Donald was in the dog house with his wife.
“We went to the State of the Union separately,” Grisham said. “She refused to walk out to Marine One with him because she did not want to be like Hillary Clinton and standing by her man.”
Way back in 1998, the Clinton family went down in history after then-President Bill Clinton, his wife Hillary, and his daughter Chelsea were captured in a now-historical photo holding hands as they walked to a helicopter on the South Lawn just shortly after the news broke of the president’s inappropriate sexual involvement with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.
Grisham went on to add that Melania is a “very independent and strong woman” and may actually serve as the ex-president’s “secret weapon for this for this upcoming campaign.”
She goes on to explain that, based on her insider experience with the Trumps behind closed doors, she feels certain that Melania Trump is aggressively pushing to delay this case by any means necessary.
Should her husband fail to delay the trial, Grisham believes that Melania fully expects her husband to get on the witness stand and harp and sing about what a faithful and devoted husband he is.
“I would imagine that she will push him to go on the stand and defend himself because this is this is very, very embarrassing for her.”
“It’s humiliating for her and I can guarantee you that she’s not happy right now and that he’s quite worried about that.”
