Republican Senator Ironically, Brutally Mocked Trump As A “RINO” After The Ex-President Openly Called For The “Termination” Of The US Constitution

Well, isn't that a bit ironic?

If there’s anything that former President Donald Trump gets undeniable joy and pleasure out of, it’s cooking up and then publicly lobbing the most outlandish insults and names he can string together at his various political and personal enemies. While they’re not often very good or creative in any way, and some don’t even make any sense at all, (i.e. Letitia “Peekaboo” James) they certainly tend to serve as a cheap source of entertainment and a laugh or two for those of us over here on this side of the political fence. But what’s even better still, are those rare occasions where Trump’s nasty insults actually end up getting turned back around on him.

And that’s exactly what happened recently with Republican Senator Mitt Romney, who decided to temporarily borrow one of Trump’s favorite insults for any Republican who doesn’t support him, and labeled the former president a “RINO” for his recent public call for the “termination” of the US Constitution.

A while back, Trump posted this to Truth Social:

So, with the revelation of MASSIVE & WIDESPREAD FRAUD & DECEPTION in working closely with Big Tech Companies, the DNC, & the Democrat Party, do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION? A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution. Our great ‘Founders’ did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections!”

That was a former sitting US president openly, publicly, and shamelessly calling for the destruction of the highest law of the land, all because he’s a big fat crybaby and a sore loser about his election loss.

According to a report from Huffington Post, Romney recently spoke with Capitol reporters and turned Donald’s infamous insult against Republicans, against Donald Trump himself, “Well, the Republican Party is the Constitution party. So when he calls to suspend the Constitution, he goes from being MAGA to being RINO.”

Trump has been utilizing the “RINO” insult for quite literally years now — meaning “Republican In Name Only” — against anyone who dares to snub, scorn, or even remotely disagree with him.

Donald’s comments about the Constitution seem to have been the final death knell for many a GOPer. Even Sen. John Cornyn, who literally spent 3 days desperately trying to dodge questions about the former president’s Mar-a-Lago dinner with known white supremacists, anti-semites, and literal Nazis, only to break his silence on the matter of the Constitution, taking to social media and stating that Donald’s remarks were “not a responsible thing to say.”

“I don’t know why anybody would say something like that; certainly not an ex-president. I just think it’s irresponsible,” Cornyn said in a tweet.

Republican Senator Bill Cassidy also weighed in, calling Trump’s rant “a Hail Mary to maintain some hope when everybody knows it’s not the case. We’re the party of the Constitution; it’s not going to happen.”

Sen. Ben Sasse, who is leaving office soon, said his GOP colleagues “are going to have to choose if they’re for the circus clown or if they’re for the Constitution.”

However, many other Republicans who claim to be “constitutional conservatives” have refused to comment, as they don’t seem to yet have the bravery to publicly denounce the likes of Donald Trump.
