On Monday, President Donald Trump made a bizarre comment about King Charles, bestowing a new nickname on him.

According to The Mirror, the president spoke about the ongoing White House renovations, during which he went off on a weird rant about the King of England and his visit there earlier this year.

The exchange went like this:

Trump: Windsor Castle. It’s the longest building I’ve ever seen. But I said to Charles, “Who built this? This place is incredible.” William the Conqueror. I said, “Oh, William the Conqueror—was he a nice man?” Charles said, “No, no, he was extremely strong and very tough.” I said, “I figured with a name like William the Conqueror, I would think… what do you think? I think you’d be tough.” I said we have to come up with a good name for you, maybe Charles the Conqueror.

King Charles is a hereditary monarch and has never “conquered” anywhere or anything. Also, “he was extremely strong and very tough” is the sort of thing Donald Trump says, but is not something that King Charles has ever been known to say.

A lot of people on social media were amused by the story:

Trump has been open, for a number of years, about his desire to have dated Princess Diana, the late former wife of the King.
