Trump Reportedly Asked If He Could Take Back His Pardon He Issued To Scooter Libby After Libby Attended A Fundraiser For Liz Cheney

This is HILARIOUS.

Apparently, among an absolute slew of other things, no one taught Donald Trump the concept of “No take backsies.”

In his flurry of pardons during his White House days, Trump issued one of those presidential “get out of jail free” cards to former Vice President Dick Cheney’s old Chief of Staff,  Lewis “Scooter” Libby, in connection to Libby’s 2007 conviction for perjury and obstruction of justice in connection with the disclosure of the identity of a C.I.A. officer, Valerie Plame, per the New York Times.

But according to new reporting, Trump wants to take it back after he found out Libby recently attended a fundraiser for Liz Cheney, the Wyoming Republican that Trump loves to hate, and one of only two GOPers who are serving on the House Select Committee that’s currently investigating the infamous January 6th Capitol riot.

The Times’ Maggie Haberman (who Trump currently has his own beef with over her forthcoming tell-all book) recently reported on Twitter, “Trump has been complaining loudly to people that SCOOTER LIBBY, who he pardoned, is attended a fundraiser for Liz Cheney. He has indicated he sees it as somehow disloyal, per people familiar with the discussions.”

As if that wasn’t bad enough, Washington Post investigative reporter Josh Dawsey made it even worse when he retweeted Haberman’s post, adding, “And he has asked if he could rescind the pardon.”

Unfortunately for Trump, that’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works. But Lord knows, it’s completely unsurprising coming from Donald Trump.
