There is no end to President Donald Trump’s wrath. He’s going after his perceived enemies with the same fervor he used to gut USAID. This time, he has the National Archives in his crosshairs. He has it in for staffers who took part in efforts to have documents uncovered at his Florida residence sent back to the agency, Rolling Stone reports.
Staffers who were directly involved in seeking the records are being targeted, but even some who weren’t involved are also targeted. Raw Story reports they are all part of a “list” Trump asked his advisers to compile after being elected in November. This all fits into his vow to carry out retribution against his critics and those involved in prosecuting him.
“There are some in Trump’s ear who want him to oust everybody on the list,” per Rolling Stone. “There are others close to Trump, including some senior White House staff, who think the final list of Archives staff to dismiss should be more carefully curated, as there are some names on the initial list who they feel were just doing their jobs and not worthy of blackballing.”
William Bosanko, deputy archivist of the United States may be one such target on Trump’s “Purge list,” which has been approved by Trump administration minions (well, that’s my word for them, anyway). Some within Trump’s realm who perhaps have a bit more sense, are questioning the legality of Bosanko’s potential firing.

“However, it is the position of the upper crust of the second Trump administration that the law — and the Constitution — should not get in the way of what the president, and his purge-buddy Elon Musk, want to do,” Rolling Stone noted.
And staff at the nonpartisan National Archives already expect the ax to swing and are preparing for what some perceive as the inevitable in the wake of Trump’s attempt to gut federal agencies. Their worries were almost certainly heightened after the head of the National Archives was dismissed last week. One source told Rolling Stone that staff are “talking in terms of inevitability,” adding that “it’s been grim.”
Trump is acting like a toddler throwing a temper tantrum. But it’s a dangerous tantrum. This 78-year-old toddler viewed himself as having been wronged and he’s not going to let anyone forget it. He doesn’t care who he harms as long as he gets his way.
I hope the Trump supporters who inflicted this on the rest of us are feeling the pain. They deserve it.
