Former Trump Official: Age Is ‘Enhancing’ The Craziness

Getting older, getting worse

On Thursday, Trump fell asleep during an Oval Office healthcare meeting. That same night, he posted 18 times between midnight and 2:45 a.m., including a demand that the 2020 election be wiped from the books and a Clint Eastwood quote that turned out to be from a New Hampshire state representative.

By Friday, former aide Sarah Matthews stepped in to interpret what all of it might mean.

Matthews described a pattern that, in her view, has intensified. “I just think it’s gotten even worse in the sense that it’s a little bit more extreme,” she said, adding that Trump “has lost his fastball” and is “not beating Father Time.” She went further, arguing that age is “enhancing the craziness that was already kind of there.”

MS NOW anchor Nicole Wallace walked through the overnight posting schedule with clinical precision.

Between 12:27 and 12:28 a.m., Trump posted four times demanding treason charges for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. At 1:13 a.m., he declared the 2020 election should be “permanently wiped from the books and be of no further force or effect.”

At 2:43 a.m., either still awake or awake again, he shared what he presented as an inspiring Clint Eastwood quote. It was from a New Hampshire state representative in 2019. Eastwood had no involvement.

Wallace’s assessment of the content was equally pointed.

“And none of those posts were really anything pressing,” she said. “None of them were things that couldn’t wait till a morning tirade.” The president of the United States was awake before 3 a.m. misattributing quotes and relitigating a five-year-old election result. Hours later he was asleep in the Oval Office on live television.

A Fox News poll found that 55% of registered American voters do not believe Trump has the mental soundness to serve effectively as president, a seven-point increase since late 2024.

Wallace then posed the question nobody in the White House appears to have a clean answer for.

She asked Matthews directly whose job it was to wake the president when he falls asleep during important meetings, or to “kick him under the table.” “Whose job is it in this White House to wake him up or get the press out?” Wallace demanded. Matthews had no definitive answer. The organizational chart apparently does not cover this scenario.
