During the Christmas holiday, New York Magazine correspondent Olivia Nuzzi penned a brutally scathing report that detailed the sad, pathetic, aimless, and lonely life that former President Donald Trump is now living at his equally scandal-ridden Palm Beach golf resort in the days, weeks, months, and years post his tumultuous presidency and humiliating election loss.
Nuzzi, who interviewed the ex-president at his Mar-a-Lago home turned post-White House personal residence for this particular piece, described Trump as aimless, with little direction in life, barely ever even venturing outside the confines of his Palm Beach compound, despite his recent 2024 presidential campaign launch announcement. The journalist even quoted one Trump insider as saying, “He just goes, plays golf, comes back, and f*cks off. He has retreated to the golf course and to Mar-a-Lago,” before going on to admit, “His world has gotten much smaller. His world is so, so small.”
At one point in their extensive interview, Trump railed against the notion — perpetuated by his own close aides, mind you — that he’s become a shut-in of sorts since his 2020 defeat, with Nuzzi writing, “Trump’s campaign schedule, described to me as ‘busy,’ involved 11 events over the course of the month. One event was the announcement itself. Five events took place at Mar-a-Lago. Four events were not events at all but taped videos that were aired at events where Trump was not physically present.”
As you’d expect, it didn’t take long for Trump to begin to equally rail against Nuzzi’s report as it hit the media cycle.

“So funny to read and hear the Fake News political pundits saying that ‘Trump isn’t working too hard on his campaign. This is not a good sign, maybe he’s giving up (even though I’m leading BIG in the Polls!). What they don’t say is that, ‘WE HAVE ALMOST TWO YEARS TO GO.’ The Rallies will be bigger and better than ever (because our Country is going to Hell), but it’s a little bit early, don’t you think?” Trump fumed in a Truth Social post over Nuzzi’s report.
But things got even more interesting still when Nuzzi reported that the ex-president became “defensive” when the topic of the interview turned to reports that his daughter Ivanka and his son-in-law Jared Kushner refused to get involved in his 2024 campaign launch.
Trump absolutely balked over this piece of reporting, and wasted absolutely no time in trying to do some damage control by once again taking to his struggling Truth Social to do what he always does in situations such as this — deny, deny, deny. This time, denying that he ever wanted Ivanka and Jared involved in things from the get-go.
“Contrary to Fake News reporting, I never asked Jared or Ivanka to be part of the 2024 Campaign for President and, in fact, specifically asked them not to do it – too mean and nasty with the Fake & Corrupt News and having to deal with some absolutely horrendous SleazeBags in the world of politics, and beyond,” Trump claimed in an unhinged Truth post. “There has never been anything like this ‘ride’ before, and they should not be further subjected to it. I ran twice, getting millions more Votes the second time (RIGGED), & am doing it again!”
At the end of the day, though, all the Truth Social rants in the world won’t change the fact that Ivanka has simply had it up to here with her dad.
